Why we built The Compound Index — and what we committed to when we did
The editorial rationale behind the Index, our evidence framework and the boundary we maintain between research and commerce.
Why the Index exists
Research-compound information is often presented beside a sales claim. The Compound Index was built to separate those jobs. Editorial entries describe the evidence, its limits and the questions that remain; catalogue pages describe only what is supplied for controlled laboratory use.
The wall between evidence and commerce
A shop product may point to its independent Index entry. An Index entry or report never points back to a product. That one-way relationship is deliberate: the evidence record should not become a sales funnel.
How we grade evidence
Every compound is labelled by the strongest verified evidence stage represented in the reviewed record. Mechanistic findings, animal studies and human trials are described separately. A grade is a navigation aid, not a claim of safety or efficacy.
What we commit to
We will state uncertainty, correct material errors, show primary references where available and keep research-use-only boundaries visible across every commercial surface.
